Anne Gatherar - Anne Gatherar Ceramics
I make pots on the potters wheel on the outskirts of Edinburgh and create a range of domestic and scuptural ware. I mostly fire at 1270 in a small electric kiln but also help out each year firing an anagama kiln which allows me to explore the use of natural wood effects on some of my work. I am influenced by the scottish landscape and enjoy the use of glaze to create different effects that relate in some way to our landscape. My most recent work involves the use of Silcon Carbide and creates a crater like effect on the surface of the work. Combining this with wax resist and overlapping another glaze gives me control over a variety of effects.
