Linlithgow Pottery is the beginning of a dream coming to fruition. It?s where my imagination turns clay into unique creations. Nestled in the centre of Linlithgow just off of the high street the studio sits on two floors in an old stone building with a wood stove to keep us warm. Every day Nuala (my four legged studio manager) and I walk along the canal to get to the studio. My work is inspired by the nature surrounding us. If we spot a mouse one might appear on the lid of a jar. The spiral of a fern opening might become a pattern on a platter or a cup. The ripples in the water could inspire me to carve at a piece in a way that the glaze can sit to emulate those ripples.
Creating is the largest part of me that I know. If I?m not making I?m not happy. I want to make works that will remind us all to pause. To give our minds a moment of rest. A cup that sits comfortably in your hands with texture to feel and glazes that draw you in and away. That is a cup to be had. A cup that makes that first hot tea more satisfying and sets you up with a positive start to your day.
As well as being a maker I also love sharing my passion with others. I teach small classes out of my high street shop where students can learn throwing and hand building techniques. My classes are relaxed and without judgement. I want everyone who comes for a class to leave the studio feeling lighter and wanting more!
If you like what you see pop by the shop to learn more about us and have a look around.
