Rona Slevin was brought up in Glasgow and moved to live in West Kilbride in 2003. She studied Ceramics at Glasgow School of Art from 1979-83. Although she has kept up her artwork since then including glasswork and painting she only returned to making Ceramics in 2009. She now retired and enjoys working in her studio in the garden. She mainly enjoys handbuilding her work and uses stoneware fired to a high temperature. Rona also makes work to raku fire which she finds very exciting. She loves the contrast between her electric kiln fired work and the unpredictability of raku firing which is outdoors with quick results. Her work is inspired by nature, textures and architecture and is always evolving.
