We are an independent design school based in central Edinburgh. We are a Scottish Qualifications Authority Approved Centre dedicated to teaching design based disciplines which have been disappearing from mainstream publicly funded education.

We teach pottery courses, classes and workshops at certificate and non certificate levels. We also have a professional makerspace for people who have training and need space to work.

All our teachers are fully qualified art and teacher trained industry professionals and our classes are limited to ten people to ensure a quality experience.

Andrew Appleby: Wheel throwing masterclass "Ceramics Tai Chi" Posted on by Alex Gunn

ANDREW APPLEBY

Edinburgh Ceramics Workshop will be hosting legendary Orkney potter Andrew Appleby for a weeklong throwing course in December, giving you a unique insight into the techniques and processes he has mastered over time.

Andrew produces a distinctive range of hand-thrown ceramics at Fursbreck Pottery and draws inspiration from the ruggedly beautiful Orcadian landscape and its rich mythology. This is reflected in the form and surface of Andrew’s creations which range from tea pots, jugs, mugs, beakers and goblets.

Andrew is also a specialist in Neolithic and Bronze Age pottery reconstruction using experimental archaeology techniques and will give a short talk during the week about his research and findings.
