The Ways of Being exhibition, featuring Wendy Lawrence, Helen Michie, Patricia Shone, Tricia Thom, Michelle Young-Hares and Maggie Zerafa, aims to explore the unique contribution of each artist and her own way of working and work includes a range of forming, decorating and firing methods including wheel thrown porcelain, hand built paper clay, stoneware sculpture, crystalline glazing, raku, wood and saggar firing and more.
The aim of the exhibition is to highlight and support the work created by professional women ceramic artists and share their wide variety of creative approaches within a fine art gallery setting.
It is hoped that the exhibition may also offer the opportunity for future collaborations and facilitate and encourage the development of new work.
Ways of Being will be held in Resipole Studios Fine Art Gallery beside Loch Sunart in the stunning west coast of Scotland from the first of September until the end of October.
Although painter Andrew Sinclair who runs the gallery regularly exhibits and supports ceramics, this group ceramics exhibition will be the first of its kind for Resipole but it is hoped that it will be the first of many.
It is also hoped that Ways of Being will help encourage more ceramicists in Scotland to work with galleries and curate artist-led group exhibitions to support the development and sustainability of ceramics and ceramic artists into the future.
