I started Watergaw Ceramics in 2000 having done a BDes(Hons) in Ceramics at Duncan of Jordanstone followed by an MA at Grays in Aberdeen. I started to specialise in 'Reduction In Glaze Lustre Ware' whilst at Dundee and continue to experiment and enjoy the fabulous colours and effects that can be achieved with this type of glaze. It's technically quite difficult and each firing is different adding to the excitement of opening the kiln.

At Watergaw Ceramics I teach classes with Brian Cook Shand - we concentrate on teaching people how to throw - we have 8 wheels which maximises the time spent on the wheel.

When you are creating Reduction In Glaze Lustre Ware you are said to be chasing the rainbow - trying to capture all the colours of the rainbow in your glazes. Watergaw is ancient scot for a partial or incomplete rainbow - which is why I called my pottery Watergaw Ceramics
