Kate Doughty - Mud Pottery
My clay journey started in 2013 with short courses in ceramics at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen. Thereafter I attended blocks of classes with Kerstin Gren for a couple of years. I now have an electric kiln, potters wheel and an outside raku gas fired kiln. This allows me to have a wide range of effects. I use stoneware and unstable glazes which give variance and depth to my domestic pottery. Outdoors gives me the scope for raku, horsehair and feathers, pit firing and obvara. For outdoor pieces I do pots and also sculptural work mainly based on animals and birds. Facebook and instagram pages are listed under katedoughtyatmudpottery.
