Louise Smith is the owner and director of Edinburgh Contemporary Crafts. A city centre studio which provides high quality multi-disciplinary craft workshop facilities for: ceramics, jewellery, textiles, print and upholstery. Our gallery ‘Cabinet’ showcases high-quality, original, British craft.

The shared studio supports emerging and mid-career makers, encourages collaboration and cross-discipline practice and our program of courses allows the general public access to fully equipped workshops and courses taught by skilled and enthusiastic professionals.

By bringing the workshops and gallery together we have created a welcoming and animated space for the public to experience and buy contemporary craft and a tangible link between process and product. The gallery offers our residents a direct route for selling their work.

Edinburgh Contemporary Crafts was only possible due to the incredible hard work of all our residents and an amazing group of volunteers, all of those who participated in courses in the early days when things were a little chaotic and funding from Creative Scotland- Thank you all! We are also grateful for the support of Craft Scotland.
