Scottish Potters Association 40th Anniversary Celebrations

Posted on

Next year will be the SPA's 40th anniversary. We are planning events to celebrate and to raise awareness of this wonderful craft which we all love.

The dates and a venue for our main exhibition in 2014

11th July – 14th September 2014
The Barony Centre, 50 Main St. West Kilbride, Ayreshire.

The  Barony Centre is a "dedicated craft exhibition and activities centre" based in a beautiful modern conversion of a large Victorian church, in the designated craft town of Scotland. As well as the main exhibition of work there will be opportunities for demonstrations by members and for selling work in the retail space. http://www.crafttownscotland.org/the-barony-centre

This will be a selected exhibition, representing the range and quality of ceramics created by our members. Applications for the exhibitions can be donloaded here . Or they can be forwarded on request from Moira Ferguson, Aldersyde, Shore Road, Kilmun, Dunoon PA23 8SE (please send a SAE).

Finally we are asking you to rummage in your drawers for memorabilia of the last 40 years of the SPA: photos, film and videos, graphics etc. plus stories and memories. We hope to collate these to chart the development of studio ceramics in Scotland as part of the show at the Barony Centre and possibly for publication in some format.
(Forward any information to Moira Ferguson at above address)

More details on all these events, as we get them. Check the web site and e bulletins as well as the next newsletter. And GET INVOLVED

Regional Celebrations

Although we are planning the main exhibition and demonstrations, it is intended that groups of members of the SPA will take the opportunity to promote ceramics and the SPA regionally, by running local exhibitions, workshops or hands-on activities and any other ideas you can think of together, so get your thinking caps on!
