Always interested in the Arts, Val took up pottery at evening class, continuing through to teach the class!
She later worked in the pottery in the beautiful village of Culross, making thrown stoneware in the simple modern shapes and colours she prefers.
Val also enjoys making larger, handbuilt work, often inspired by contrast and camouflage, like the play of light and shade in the natural environment. A hazy micro-crystalline glaze adds another dimension to these one-off pieces.
Val's work is available in Greengate Gallery, Culross, Fife, and in The Milton Gallery in Crathes, and in other galleries from time to time.
