My work is hand built or slip cast from moulds that I have made from pebbles and other shapes that I find and appeal to me. I use slips and print onto greenware. I then add underglaze colours, and make marks using scraffito techniques. Before the final glaze firing I sometimes add oxides colours such as cobalt. I am inspired by the natural world and the infinite variety of forms, especially the minute and almost invisible such as algae and plankton, small insects and lichens. I can hear the sea from my garden and see the distant Angus glens so I am surrounded by inspiration for my pots and their surfaces.
