Largely self taught since attending evening classes in the mid-70s. Greatly influenced by Denis Parks of Tuscarora Pottery to become self-sufficient. All major equipment has been built in house. My outdoor kiln is fired with waste oil using burners made from old car exhausts and air driven by discarded vacuum cleaners. The momentum wheel is an old car wheel filled with concrete and mounted on a shaft which was once the front suspension torsion bar on a Morris Minor. Raw glazing and single firing is my normal mode of working. My glazes are produced from basic raw materials to my own recipe.
What I produce - mainly wall-hangings - have characteristics which reflect my interests in opera, poetry and the seaside location of my home.
