Introduction to Raku: 26th March – 2nd April 2023

In two sessions you will make, glaze and fire your own Raku ware ready to take home and enjoy!
The First Session will run Sunday the 26th March from 11am to 1.30pm
In this session you will be guided in the creation of a tea bowl or small vase using pinch, slab or carving techniques. Once your piece is finished it will be left with us to dry and get bisque fired.
The Second Session will run Sunday the 2nd of April from 11am to 3pm
In this session you will glaze your works and watch as we fast-fire it live in our Raku Kiln. The works will then be placed in reduction burn bins and finished off in a water bath for your enjoyment. All your work will be ready to take home at the end of this session.

About your tutor: Adam Gandy
Adam is a Glasgow-based Ceramic Artist, Technician and Fabricator. After graduating Emily Carr University, Adam took employment fabricating sculpture and sets for senior Artists in Vancouver and USA. In 2013, he left Canada for Germany, in order to work at the Haus der Kunst Museum assisting visiting artists with sculpture, installation and video works for exhibition. Since moving to Glasgow, Adam has been making work and sharing his expertise as a tutor in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Follow Adam on Instagram here.
