We’re delighted that Susan O’Byrne who will be joining us as a demonstrator at this year’s Spring Gathering has kindly agreed to deliver a two-day masterclass in Aberdeenshire.
This hands-on masterclass offers a rare opportunity to learn directly from Susan through extensive demonstrations and guided practice, with a particular focus on her distinctive decorative techniques and creative processes.

About Susan O’Byrne
Susan O’Byrne is an Irish ceramic artist based in Glasgow, internationally recognised for her richly patterned, narrative ceramic animal sculptures. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art (First Class Honours and postgraduate diploma), Susan’s work is held in public and private collections across Europe and the United States. Her practice draws on historical craft traditions such as needlepoint and folk art, combining intricate, collaged porcelain surfaces with imaginative sculptural forms.
About the workshop
The two days will include a significant amount of live demonstration, offering participants an overview of Susan’s full working process, with a primary emphasis on surface decoration techniques.
