We’re a family-run pottery based near Tyndrum in the Scottish Highlands, working between functional ceramics, exhibition pieces, and long-running material experiments. Our practice is rooted in place, both physically and materially, with a strong focus on local sourcing, low-impact processes, and making as much as possible from the ground up.

A defining part of our work is an ongoing exploration of gold lustre, developed using Scottish alluvial gold that we pan ourselves from local rivers. That gold is then chemically processed in-house and turned into a lustre glaze, combining traditional ceramic decoration with contemporary materials science. As far as we know, it’s a fairly unique approach, and certainly not the sensible option, but it allows us to work with gold that is ethical, traceable, and genuinely local.

Alongside the lustre work, we produce wheel-thrown and hand-built ceramics designed for daily use, as well as one-off pieces that explore surface, firing, and form. Sustainability sits behind many of the decisions we make, from avoiding problematic materials where possible to rethinking firing methods and material waste.

We’re currently in the process of building a new home and pottery on our land in Argyll & Bute, shaping the studio alongside the work itself. It’s very much a work in progress, but one that reflects how we approach pottery in general: slow, hands-on, and rooted in the landscape around us.
