This short evening course will run over four Tuesday evenings from 6 - 8.30. Held at Cyan Clayworks in Leith, it will focus on making functional pots on the wheel and by hand. Suitable for complete beginners, and ideal for those who would like to create a small selection of their own dishes to use at home. Chris and Fiona will guide you through a few different techniques for making pots you can use at home for food and drink. This will include wheelthrowing, press moulding, and slab building. You will be able to create a small group of unique pieces such as mugs, bowls, plates or trays for serving snacks. We will have some templates for you to use for the handbuilt pieces if needed, and on the wheel Chris will help you all individually starting with an introduction to throwing; learning the basics of centering the clay, hollowing out and making specific forms. All the pots can be decorated with food safe coloured slips or glaze.
