Meet Joseph Morgan, the Aberdeenshire-based potter behind the much-loved Claybots—quirky, characterful ceramic robots inspired by classic 1980s sci-fi. With over 20 years of professional experience, a solid grounding in ceramics from UCLan and the CCoI Pottery Skills Course, and a lifelong love of “robots and beasties,” Joe has developed a distinctive sculptural style that’s equal parts playful, expressive, and expertly crafted.
In his demonstration, Joe will share the secrets behind bringing his Claybots to life. You’ll learn how he creates richly textured surfaces using both found objects and custom-made tools, and watch as he assembles one of his robotic characters from slabs and extrusions.
